PureTech Systems unveils next generation Autonomous PTZ follow

PureActiv® software suite provides state of the art hands-free video tracking
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- PureTech Systems Inc., a leading manufacturer of wide-area video surveillance software, today announced the release of its next generation of Autonomous PTZ follow.  The new algorithm which continuously steers a Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera to maintain a view of an intruder was developed by PureTech’s development team at their Phoenix headquarters.  The advanced tracking is not impacted by posture changes, occlusion of the target by trees or poles, changes in target speed, direction or even sudden stops.  Other manufacturers’ camera following either tracks with marginal success or is restricted to tracking within the view of a secondary fixed camera.  PureTech’s algorithm allows for automated control of pan, tilt and zoom, keeping the target centered in the field of view throughout the entire coverage area of the PTZ camera.    This feature essentially allows for “hands-free” camera tracking when an intrusion or event occurs.

PureTech’s new PTZ tracking capability is part of the company’s PureActiv® Wide Area Surveillance software suite, which can be deployed as either a server-based video management system or within an edge device.   The new software release includes integrations with various CCTV and thermal cameras, allowing brands such as Axis, Bosch, Pelco, Quickset, ICX / FLIR and others to utilize the PTZ following feature.  This new capability has been successfully deployed at several sites including a major seaport and several military bases.

PureTech also released a set of complementary features in its latest version of PureActiv.  This includes a slew to cue feature that allows a variety of perimeter sensors to activate the PTZ following algorithm.  Sensors that can currently activate and perform initial pointing of the camera include: fence detection systems, ground radar, access control systems, fixed cameras enabled with video analytics and proximity sensors.

“This next generation PTZ follow, combined with the ability to automatically detect with a wide array of perimeter sensors, is a major enhancement to the current industry concepts of perimeter intrusion design.   This hands-free capability, which enables automatic detection, identification and subsequent action in the event of an intrusion, is an invaluable tool for today’s security professionals in protecting critical facilities,” comments Eric Olson, PureTech’s Director of Product Management.

PureTech will be demonstrating the next generation of its PTZ Follow algorithm at the ASIS International show in Dallas, TX from Oct 12 - 14.   Videos of the new functionality can also be found at http://www.puretechsystems.com/videos.html.
