  • Solving the Nuisance Alarm Problem with PurifAI | PureTech Systems

< Back Solving the Nuisance Alarm Problem with PurifAI Dec 10, 2024 Solving the Nuisance Alarm Problem with PurifAI: a Q&A with Chris Sincock, VP of Channel Development Q: Why are nuisance alarms such a significant issue for the security industry? A: Nuisance alarms present a significant challenge for the security industry, particularly for central monitoring stations. These nuisance alarms occur when systems mistakenly identify non-threatening events—such as moving shadows, animals, weather conditions, or lighting changes—as potential security breaches. This influx of nuisance alarms leads to alarm fatigue among operators, wasted resources, and delayed responses to actual threats. For central stations managing thousands of alarms daily, this situation is both costly with an average of 3 minutes for each nuisance alarm to be cleared, and dangerous as fatigued operators are more prone to miss actual alarms. Q: What makes PureTech Systems' PurifAI a game-changer for addressing nuisance alarms? A: PurifAI is an AI-driven video analytics SaaS specifically designed to combat nuisance alarms. Using patented, advanced machine learning algorithms, it reassesses alarms triggered by video motion detection and filters out nuisance events with remarkable accuracy. What’s revolutionary is its ability to nearly eliminate nuisance alarms without requiring any new hardware or on-site installation — it's a pure cloud-based solution. Q: How does PurifAI integrate with existing security systems? A: PurifAI is designed for seamless integration. It works with virtually any video surveillance system—cameras, DVRs, NVRs, and even other sensors. Since it operates in the cloud, you don’t need to invest in additional equipment or overhaul your current infrastructure. This makes it incredibly versatile and cost-effective for monitoring stations looking to improve their operations without major disruptions. If your alarm monitoring software can receive events via SMTP (email) it is a plug and play addition! For applications developers, PurifAI offers an API for sending videos and images to PurifAI and for receiving responses back indicating if the video and/or image contained an object of interest. This enables anyone building an application for any purpose to use PurifAI. Q: What are the operational benefits of using AI-boosted video analytics and why should organizations look at it? A: There are several. First, AI-boosted video analytics improves efficiency by reducing the burden of nuisance alarms, enabling monitoring stations to manage more sites without adding staff. This directly lowers operating costs. Second, when operators aren’t bombarded with meaningless alarms, they’re less fatigued and can focus on high-priority events, leading to better performance and job retention. Finally, AI-boosted video analytics’ ability to deliver reliable, verified alarms ensures swift response times to real security incidents. Q: What sets PurifAI apart from other AI-driven video analytics solutions? A: Many solutions claim to address nuisance alarms but fall short in versatility and effectiveness. PureTech Systems, the owner of PurifAI, is backed by over two decades of video for machine learning and algorithm development and stands out for its high accuracy rate, ease of deployment, and scalability. It’s a SaaS platform, which means you can scale as your needs grow without worrying about hardware limitations. Additionally, PurifAI works with alarms from any video motion detection source that can send alarms via SMTP (email), making it one of the most adaptable solutions on the market. Q: How does PurifAI support scalability for growing organizations? A: Since PurifAI is cloud-based, it’s inherently scalable. Whether you’re a small monitoring station managing a handful of sites or a large-scale operation overseeing thousands, PurifAI can adapt to your needs. The ability to add sites without the hassle of hardware upgrades makes it an ideal solution for organizations. • PureTech Announces Successful Integration and Multiple Deployments with OptaSense | PureTech Systems

< Back PureTech Announces Successful Integration and Multiple Deployments with OptaSense Sep 29, 2020 PHOENIX, Ariz. – PureTech Systems announced today the successful integration and deployments of PureActiv® software with OptaSense Linear Ground Detection Systems (LGDS). The LGDS provides perimeter intrusion detection using advanced distributed acoustic sensing technology capable of detecting, classifying and locating multiple threats in real time. When coupled with PureTech’s AI Deep Learning based software, the PureActiv® system verifies the detected threats as person, vehicle, animal, or other. This enables the integrated system with machine to machine validation to automatically verify real threats and dramatically reduce nuisance alarms and the time spent reacting to them. Working in cooperation, OptaSense and PureTech have deployed perimeter protection at several high security power generation plants in the United States with plans to install additional sites by the end of 2020. OptaSense currently has over 20,000 miles of systems operational around the world, including on the U.S. southern border and international borders. “PureActiv® provides the highest probability of detection with the lowest nuisance alarm rates by forming a nearly impenetrable virtual wall. Successfully integrated into a multitude of camera, radar, and LDGS systems, our software provides cutting-edge perimeter security around the most critical facilities, infrastructure, and country borders ” said PureTech Systems President Larry Bowe. “ PureTech Systems software outperforms other analytics in detection range and accuracy of detection and classification, allowing security personnel to more efficiently and effectively identify threats.” OptaSense’s Linear Ground Detection System is a real-time awareness edge device that detects and assesses activities and behaviors for perimeters, borders and infrastructure monitoring. The solution “listens” and “feels” acoustic and seismic energies near a fiber-optic cable, then, through advanced algorithms, alerts and classifies on human activities through software, via a user interface or integrated C2 platforms. “OptaSense leads the fiber-optic sensing industry in deployed miles, spanning multiple verticals and multiple applications. We have an open architecture that integrates with other layers of security and common operating pictures like PureActiv®, with our system often providing an early warning and tip and cue. We’re proud to integrate with industry leading technologies on critical national infrastructure projects,” said Jeff Williamson, OptaSense Managing Director. • New PureTech Patent Automates the Verification of Alarms | PureTech Systems

< Back New PureTech Patent Automates the Verification of Alarms Jul 19, 2022 New PureTech Patent Automates the Verification of Alarms PHOENIX, Ariz. – PureTech Systems announced the issuance of a patent by the United States Patent Office – “US Patent 11,373,511 for Alarm Processing and Classification System and Method.” This is the 16th patent issued to PureTech Systems Inc. A major issue plaguing central monitoring companies is false safety and security alarms from video enabled systems. False alarms are not only time-consuming to assess and process, but they take essential resources away from taking action on real safety and security events. PureTech’s newly awarded patent automates the verification of alarms and pass on only validated alarms to Central Monitoring personnel for further action. With the use of AI Deep Learning enhanced video analytics for false alarm rejection, PureTech’s PurifAI™ solution can eliminate up to 95% of false alarms. PureActiv PurifAI™ is a system and method for processing alarms including data received from a third-party data sources. PureActiv will process the visual data to detect and classify objects in the area of interest. If an object satisfies the classification, according to a set of pre-defined rules, a positive alarm will be issued. If the object is in nonconformance with the pre-defined criteria, a false alarm will be logged but not forwarded for action. “PureTech Systems is pleased to be able to provide relief on the number of false alarms, in turn increasing the overall monitoring efficiencies and effectiveness. This will enable Central Monitoring companies to dramatically scale their businesses without adding staff.” said Larry Bowe Jr, President of PureTech Systems. Consistent with the company's intellectual property protection strategy, PureTech Systems continues to apply and be awarded patents for its award-winning AI Geospatial Video Analytics for electronically securing perimeters around facilities, infrastructures, and borders.
